The Cowboys start their Organized Team Activities Monday.
Tony Romo will be there, and hopes to participate in the final stage of qualifying for the Byron Nelson Classic earlier in the day. (If Romo’s tee time isn’t early, he’ll skip the golf.)
Dez Bryant will be there, catching passes from Romo for the first time.
One player whose status is uncertain is Patrick Crayton, who has been given permission to seek a trade. Crayton’s agent says his client will definitely show up to mandatory work, when it arrives. (The OTAs are voluntary.)
“Obviously, I’d like for Patrick to be there, but I understand his situation,” Romo told the Dallas Morning News. “Patrick is the kind of kid who works hard. He’ll be prepared, he’ll be ready. He’s just in a tough situation for what he thinks. He’s doing what he thinks he needs to do.”
We can’t imagine another team giving up much for Crayton, who still has plenty of value to the Cowboys. If he’s already planning to show up at mandatory camp, this is probably a story that will go away before August.
