The Patriots are ready to get running back Dion Lewis back on the field.
New England announced today that Lewis has been activated to the 53-player roster after starting the season on the physically unable to perform list.
Last year Lewis played well for the Patriots, starting six games and carrying 49 times for 234 yards while adding 36 catches for 388 yards. He has the potential to become another big-play threat in an already excellent Patriots offense.
The Patriots also signed tight end Kennard Backman and running back Tyler Gaffney to the practice squad and released tight end Austin Traylor from the practice squad.
