The Saints are doing some homework on a potential heir apparent to Drew Brees, and the Jets are looking into a potential replacement for Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch visited the Saints yesterday and has a visit with the Jets today, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Lynch is regarded by many observers as the third-best quarterback in this year’s draft, behind consensus top quarterbacks Carson Wentz of North Dakota State and Jared Goff of Cal.

The Saints have the 12th pick in the first round of the draft, and the Jets pick 20th. With both top quarterbacks likely off the board within the first few picks, the 12-20 range may be in the neighborhood of where Lynch could go.
