Percy Harvin misses practice again for Vikings

Before the Vikings started practice on Wednesday, wide receiver Percy Harvin said that he would be on the field with his teammates.

That didn’t turn out to be the case. Harvin didn’t participate in the workout and the Vikings will have to try again on Thursday if they want to see how Harvin’s ankle has responded to rehab and, just as important, how it responds to a return to work. Dan Wiederer of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Harvin said he still has a little bit of swelling in the ankle, but feels confident in his ability to play with the injury.

The Vikings play the Bears, who did not practice on Wednesday. They did release a hypothetical practice report, however, and both Jason Campbell and Jay Cutler were listed as limited participants. Campbell is listed as having a rib injury, which isn’t a surprise given how often he got hit on Monday night, and Cutler’s status indicates that he’s been cleared to return to practice after his concussion. Coach Lovie Smith said Cutler hasn’t been cleared for a game, though.

“Jay has to be cleared to practice on a limited basis, which he has been cleared to do,” Smith said, via ESPNChicago.com. “Before he can play, he has to be cleared by independent neurologist. And we’re not to that point. It’s about practice right now. He is good to go for practice on a limited basis.”

We’ll see where both of the quarterbacks stand on Thursday when Bears practice switches from imaginary to actual.
