Philbin opted to stay in Miami to work with coaching staff
Yes, Dolphins coach Joe Philbin stayed in Miami this week in lieu of attending Senior Bowl practices. But Philbin isn’t sitting around doing nothing.
The Dolphins have advised PFT that Philbin chose to spend time in Miami, collectively meeting with new offensive coordinator Bill Lazor and the rest of the offensive coaching staff.
Philbin also wanted to finalize the process of hiring linebackers coach Mark Duffner.
Ideally, Philbin would have time to meet with his coaching staff and attend Senior Bowl practices. But with Dolphins assistant G.M. Brian Gaine and other scouts present in Mobile, it’s not as critical for coaches to be there.
Plenty of opportunities remain to scout the incoming draft class, especially with 102 of them won’t even be at the Senior Bowl because they’re not, you know, seniors.
