The Redskins re-signed guard Kory Lichtensteiger before free agency got underway and now they’ve held onto another member of their 2012 team.
Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports that the team has signed punter Sav Rocca for two more years. Rocca has been with the Redskins for the last two years and spent the first four years of his career with the Eagles.
Rocca played through a torn meniscus in his right knee last season and has already had surgery this offseason to repair that injury. He still put up the highest gross punting average of his career, however, and Rocca is expected to be ready in time for training camp if not the team’s offseason activities.
Rocca will turn 40 during the season, but Jones reports that the former Australian Rules footballer hopes to play for two of three more years.
