Reid on QB change: “We’ll evaluate it as we go”

The Eagles can’t protect Michael Vick at the moment, and he hasn’t looked great despite their 2-1 record.

But the lack of endorsement he just got at Andy Reid’s press conference was still surprising.

Reid was asked moments ago if he’d consider making a change at quarterback after Sunday’s loss at Arizona.

Right now, we’re with Michael and that’s what we’re doing,” Reid said. “We’ll evaluate it as we go.”

Reid said he wouldn’t necessarily give rookie backup Nick Foles more snaps in practice because Vick’s been taking so many hits.

Vick was sacked five times Sunday, nine on the year, and has taken far more hard shots this season.

He also has twice as many interceptions (6) as touchdowns (3), and his 66.2 rating ranks 29th in the league, right below Josh Freeman and right ahead of Brandon Weeden.

The Eagles have a $16.5 million decision to make on Vick after this season, and if there are already doubts, it’s not a good sign that they’ll pay up for a guy they might not be able to keep on his feet.
