Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch is holding his pro day workout on Wednesday and says he hopes to use it to show that he is “the best quarterback in the draft.”

Should Lynch convince teams of that, he’ll likely be off the board in the first few picks later this month. If not, he’ll be in play for teams drafting later in the first round.

The Bills, who have the 19th overall pick, fit the bill on that front and they spent some time with Lynch ahead of his workout. Sal Paolantonio of ESPN reports that the Bills took Lynch to dinner in Memphis on Tuesday night with offensive coordinator Greg Roman in town to check out the workout.

Tyrod Taylor is entering the final year of his contract and there haven’t been many signs of progress toward an agreement to this point in the offseason. As a result, the Bills have to consider all options at the position and they’ve done due diligence with other quarterbacks in this year’s draft class as part of that process. With EJ Manuel also in the final year of his contract, it wouldn’t be surprising if that work leads them to select a quarterback at some point even if they want to keep Taylor beyond 2016.
