Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl running back Marshawn Lynch has been suspended for three games by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy, according to Michael Smith of ESPN.com. The pending suspension stems from Lynch’s February 11 arrest in California and a subsequent guilty plea to a misdemeanor gun charge. Although four marijuana cigarettes were discovered during a search of Lynch’s vehicle, the police didn’t file drug charges. He was sentenced to community service and three years probation. Per the report, an official announcement of the suspension may take place today. However, Lynch is apparently planning to appeal a suspension that will cost him a total of $112,000 in lost salary. Following the incident in California, Lynch issued an apology. “I am embarrassed by my recent arrest and conviction,” Lynch said. “I deeply regret that I placed myself in this situation.” Lynch recently said that he anticipated a suspension after meeting with Goodell last month. Last year, Lynch narrowly escaped NFL discipline after pleading guilty to a traffic violation where he acknowledged hitting a woman with his car in Buffalo and driving off.
