The reports of renewed foot trouble for Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins were confirmed on Monday afternoon.
Bills coach Rex Ryan was asked about Watkins’ health after reports that Wakins is experiencing pain in his surgically repaired foot.
“Sammy came up after the game, talked to our trainers and he complained of his foot being sore,” Ryan said, via Mike Rodak of ESPN.com. “We’ll see how he progresses during the week.”
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported Monday that Watkins had x-rays and that there aren’t any surgical options at the moment. That report also indicated the Bills are considering whether to shut Watkins down in hopes that helps him get to 100 percent, but Ryan said the team isn’t thinking about doing that right now.
Even if they aren’t thinking about shutting Watkins down for an extended period, they have a game against the Jets this Thursday and losing Watkins isn’t going to help their chances of pumping up the offensive output after Sunday’s flop against the Ravens.
