Ricky Proehl could coach Panthers’ receivers

Ricky Proehl may be returning to the NFL, as the wide receivers coach for the Carolina Panthers.

Proehl, who played 17 seasons with the Cardinals, Seahawks, Bears, Rams, Panthers and Colts, is in talks to join Ron Rivera’s staff in Carolina, Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer is reporting.

Rivera and G.M. Marty Hurney interviewed the 42-year-old Proehl on Thursday.

Proehl caught 669 passes for 8,878 yards and 54 touchdowns in his career.
