Rob Gronkowski says he’ll return “when I am 100 percent”

The Patriots and Rob Gronkowski put out a joint statement about his injury yesterday, saying he was “week-to-week” with a bone bruise and hoping to make the questions go away for the moment.

But Gronkowski himself added to the conversation, posting a video on Bleacher Report that added a slight wrinkle.

I am thankful that it is nothing serious,” Gronkowski said, via Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal. “I love playing the game of football. Whenever it is taken away from you, you definitely get a feeling that you appreciate the game so much. I’m just week-to-week. I’ll be working hard to get back out on the field as soon as possible. When I am 100 percent, feeling good, cleared by all the doctors, the team, that is when I will be back.

“There’s no timetable for that. I’ll just be working hard and trying to get 100 percent as soon as possible. I can promise you that. I’ll be definitely going hard in the rehab. I appreciate all the support. Let’s go Pats. I can’t wait to be back with my teammates and I’ll see you when I get back out on the field.”

While it doesn’t offer much more in terms of clarity, it does suggest that he’s not going to rush himself back into the lineup, regardless the team’s dire need for pass-catchers, with Julian Edelman out and Danny Amendola’s status up in the air.
