The Steelers continue to wait for veteran safety Troy Polamalu to do their dirty work for them.

According to Scott Brown of ESPN.com, Steelers president Art Rooney II ducked questions about the veteran safety, who is mulling whether to retire or play in 2015, even if it’s somewhere else.

I don’t have an update on Troy,” Rooney replied when asked if there was a chance Polamalu would return.

Polamalu’s due $6 million in base salary, but it’s clear the Steelers would rather he retire and take them off the hook, so they don’t have to cut him.

The Steelers aren’t pressed for the cap room, as backup running back DeAngelo Williams is the only free agent they’ve signed and Rooney said they won’t be very active there moving forward.
