The Browns continue to try to make Terrelle Pryor into a receiver. The effort may finally be paying off.
On Sunday, Pryor made a diving catch of a pass from quarterback Robert Griffin III that resulted in a gain of roughly 50 yards. By all accounts, it was the play of the day at Browns practice.
After practice, coach Hue Jackson downplayed the moment as just another step along the way for Pryor.
“I think all of that is a work in progress for him,” Jackson told reporters. “He made the transition from quarterback to receiver, but I think he’s done an outstanding job. We’ve moved him from one side of receiver to another side so again, he’s in another transition. He’s handled it extremely well. I’m very proud of what he’s doing. We’ve had three practices and he was able to make some plays today, but we have to continue to grow everywhere on our football team to continue to get better.”
Jackson reportedly has designed plays aimed at getting the ball into Pryor’s hands through reverses and short passes. If he get can open and make catches down the field, it won’t matter.
