Vikings expected to sign long snapper Kevin McDermott

The Vikings re-signed long snapper Cullen Loeffler earlier this offseason, but it doesn’t look like the Vikings are sold on him being their guy at the position in 2015.

According to multiple reports, the Vikings are going to sign Kevin McDermott to compete with Loeffler for the job. McDermott spent part of last season with the Ravens as a replacement for the injured Morgan Cox, but wound up getting hurt himself before the year was out.

The Ravens re-signed Cox, leaving McDermott to look for his third team in as many years. He played all 16 games for the 49ers in 2013, his rookie season in the NFL.

McDermott has worked with one key member of the Vikings’ kicking game in the past. He went to UCLA with punter Jeff Locke,
