The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Travis Minor is “clearly in the lead” for the Rams’ third running back spot.
Minor should see occasional work on third downs and will continue to be a special teams standout. Rich Alexis and Kay-Jay Harris will battle for the final roster spot.

    Rams waived FB Rich Alexis.
The move made room for Antonio Pittman to join the roster.
  • LA Running Back
Rams declared FB Rich Alexis, QB Brock Berlin, WR Marques Hagans, CB Eric Bassey, C Nick Leckey, OT Rob Petitti, OT Mark LeVoir, and DE Trevor Johnson inactive for Week 16 against the Steelers.
Alexis was signed late this week. Gus Frerotte and Marc Bulger are healthy, so Berlin stays as the emergency quarterback. Brandon Williams returns and figures to bring back punts. Torry Holt is active and will start the game.

Jaguars released FB Rich Alexis and signed T Wayne Hunter.
Alexis was added to the roster briefly to work at fullback and on special teams. Hunter, a former Seahawk, had been on the practice squad.
  • LA Running Back
Rams signed RB Rich Alexis off the Jaguars’ practice squad.
He takes the spot vacated by Pisa Tinoisamoa (injured reserve). Alexis is a fullback-special teamer type and not a threat with the football.

Jaguars signed RB Rich Alexis from the practice squad.
This is not a great sign for Fred Taylor owners. Alexis is obviously only an emergency back, but perhaps this indicates Taylor isn’t returning this week.
