After the USA’s disastrous results in Sochi, and after a poor start here in PyeongChang, a short track medal was finally delivered by John-Henry Krueger in the men’s 1,000m.

In a dramatic final race that saw two South Korean skaters crash, Krueger took home the silver medal for the USA.

The American started aggressively right out of the gun, pushing himself into first position and holding one of the first three spots for much of the race.

Shaolin Sandor Liu tried to get a break on the inside, but ended up colliding with Seo Yira and Lim Hyojun, leaving just Krueger and Samuel Girard standing in the final lap.

In the other short track event, Choi Min-Jeong of South Korea won the women’s 1,500m gold.

Results:

Gold: Samuel Girard (CAN)

Silver: John-Henry Krueger (USA)

Bronze: Seo Yira (KOR)

4. Lim Hyojun (KOR)

5. Shaolin Sandor Liu (HUN) (Pen)
