The first two runs of the luge doubles competition is set to begin at 9:15 a.m. ET.
Gold and silver medal-winning duos from 2010 return to action, although there’s some question regarding whether they remain podium favorites. Austrians Andreas Linger and Wolfgang Linger won gold in Vancouver while Latvia’s Audris Sis and Juris Sis took silver respectively.
Two German pairs (Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt; Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken) join another Austrian duo (Peter Penz and Georg Fischler) as prohibitive favorites.
U.S. doubles team Matt Mortensen and Preston Griffall are expected to be more competitive than Christian Niccum and Jayson Terdiman, but the United States remains unlikely to pose too much of a threat.
