MOTORSPORTS COVERAGE

NBC Sports Group’s weekend motorsports coverage is highlighted by the Indycar Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston doubleheader. Motorsports coverage begins tonight with NBCSN’s NASCAR America, the 30-minute daily show dedicated to the nation’s longstanding fascination with speed and stock car racing, at 5 p.m. ET.

Dave Briggs hosts NASCAR America, alongside former NASCAR driver Jeff Burton.

NBCSN’s presentation of the 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series from Houston begins Saturday at 2 p.m. ET with qualifying, leading into live coverage of Race 1 at 3 p.m. ET. Live coverage of Race 2 from Houston will air on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Lead IndyCar and Formula One announcer Leigh Diffey will call the Grand Prix of Houston, and will be joined by Paul Tracy and Steve Matchett (analysts), and Jon Beekhuis, Kelli Stavast, Kevin Lee and Robin Miller reporting from the pits.

NBC Sports Group will present six hours of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Tennessee National coverage from Muddy Creek Raceway in Blountville, Tenn. on Saturday. NBC’s live presentation of the 450 Class of Moto 2 begins at 3 p.m. ET. An encore presentation will air Sunday, at 6 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Veteran play-by-play voice Jason Weigandt will call the action, joined by Pro Motocross Champion Grant Langston (analyst) and Georgia Lindsay (pit reporter).

NHL COVERAGE

NBCSN will present live coverage of the first round of the 2014 NHL Draft tonight at 7 p.m. ET from Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa. For the 52nd time, teams and executives will come together to select the next generation of hockey players.

GOLF COVERAGE

Golf Channel’s live coverage of the PGA Tour’s Quicken Loans National continues Saturday with the third round at 1 p.m. ET, and concludes with final round coverage Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

Terry Gannon (play-by-play) leads Golf Channel’s team from Congressional Country Club. Joining Gannon will be Nick Faldo (analyst), Peter Oosterhuis (tower), Steve Flesch (tower), Phil Parkin (on course) and Todd Lewis (interviews).

Live coverage on Golf Channel of the Constellation Senior Players Championship continues Saturday with the third round at 3 p.m. ET, and concludes with final round coverage Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.

Golf Channel’s team of Bob Papa (play-by-play), Lanny Wadkins (analyst), John Maheffey (tower), Dave Marr (tower), Billy Ray Brown (on course), Matt Gogel (on course) and Tim Rosaforte (interviews) will call the action from Fox Chapel Golf Club.

Coverage of the BMW International Open on Golf Channel continues Saturday with the third round at 7:30 a.m. ET, and concludes with final round coverage Sunday at 6:30 a.m. ET.

Golf Channel’s Mike Ritz hosts from the studio in Orlando, and will be joined by Dominik Holyer (play by play), Denis Hutchinson (analyst), and Julian Tutt (on course) to call the action from Germany.

Live coverage of the Walmart NW Championship on Golf Channel begins tonight at 9 p.m. ET. Coverage continues Saturday with the third round at 5 p.m. ET, and concludes with the final round Sunday at 5 p.m. ET.

Tom Abbott (play-by-play) leads Golf Channel’s team calling the action from Pinnacle Country Club. Joining Abbott will be Judy Rankin (analyst), Curt Byrum (tower), Jerry Foltz (on course) and Karen Stupples (on course).

Golf Channel’s coverage of the United Leasing Championship continues tonight with second round coverage at 7 p.m. ET. Coverage continues Saturday with the third round at 7 p.m. ET, and concludes with the final round Sunday at 7 p.m. ET.

Golf Channel’s team of Whit Watson (play-by-play), Craig Perks (analyst), Phil Blackmar (tower), Kay Cockerill (on course) and Rich Beem (on course) call the action from Victoria National Golf Club.

TRACK AND FIELD COVERAGE

NBC Sports Group presents live coverage of the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships this weekend beginning tonight at 10 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Coverage continues Saturday and Sunday at 4 p.m. ET on NBC.

Tim Hutchings, Ato Boldon, Craig Masback, Lewis Johnson and Dwight Stones call the action from Hornet’s Stadium in Sacramento, Calif.

DEW TOUR COVERAGE

NBC Sports Group will present more than 24 hours of coverage of the Dew Tour Beach Championships this week from Ocean City, Md., including four hours of live television coverage on NBC, three hours on NBCSN, and more than 17 hours of digital content live streamed on NBC Sports Live Extra and DewTour.com.

Coverage begins Saturday at 1p.m. ET on NBC. Action from Ocean City, Md, continues Sunday at 1 a.m. ET on NBCSN, 2 p.m. ET on NBC, and concludes at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Veteran play-by-play announcer Todd Harris will lead the coverage, alongside Chris Miller (skateboard analyst), Jamie Bestwick (BMX Park analyst), Ryan Nyquist (BMX Vert analyst), and Tina Dixon (reporter).

HORSERACING COVERAGE

NBCSN’s live coverage of the “Breeders Cup Challenge Series: Win and You’re in,” begins Saturday, at 7 p.m. ET. The 75th Gold Cup, run at 1 ¼ miles for 3-year-olds and up, will be the second of 11 live telecasts (18 races) under the “Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series” banner on NBC and NBCSN.

Saturday’s telecast will feature NBC Sports Group’s lead hockey analyst Eddie Olczyk, a veteran horse racing enthusiast who is making his on-air horse racing coverage debut. Joining him will be Laffit Pincay (host), Jerry Bailey and Randy Moss (analysts), and Nick Luck and Carolyn Manno (reporters).

SOCCER COVERAGE

NBCSN’s Major League Soccer coverage this weekend features the California Clasico, when the San Jose Earthquakes host rivals LA Galaxy on Saturday, June 28, at 10:30 p.m. ET from Stanford Stadium in Stanford, Calif.

NBC Sports Group’s John Strong (play-by-play) will call the match. Joining Strong will be former English footballer Robbie Mustoe (analyst) and Russ Thaler (host).

THE GOOD SON

NBCSN presents “The Good Son: The Ray Mancini Story,” Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on NBC.

The documentary tells the story of Ray ‘Boom Boom’ Mancini, whose lightweight world championship was an accomplishment his father aspired to before him, and whose fatal 14-round victory over Korean boxer Duk-Koo Kim led to the decline of Mancini’s budding career.

The Good Son chronicles the extraordinary history of both Mancini and Kim as well as the personal developments three decades after the fight that ended Kim’s life, including Mancini’s grief, guilt, retirement and subsequent redemption as he meets Ji Wan, Kim’s son who was born shortly after the fight.
