Stenmark’s All-Time Record of 86 Career World Cup Victories Has Stood Since 1989

STAMFORD, Conn. – Jan. 27, 2023 – Two-time Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin is two wins away from tying Ingemar Stenmark’s all-time record of 86 career alpine skiing FIS World Cup victories across all disciplines, a record that has stood since 1989.
On Tuesday, Shiffrin broke a tie with three-time Olympic medalist and U.S. skier Lindsey Vonn to become the all-time women’s and U.S. record holder for career victories with 83 at Kronplatz, Italy. Vonn’s record had stood since 2018. The very next day, Shiffrin earned her 84th career win, also in the giant slalom.
Live coverage of Shiffrin’s chase for 86 continues tomorrow with the women’s slalom from Spindleruv Mlyn at 3:30 a.m. ET. Shiffrin will race the same event again on Sunday at 3:15 a.m. ET. She is already the winningest slalom skier of all time regardless of gender with 51 career victories.
