STAMFORD, Conn. – October 8, 2014 – NBCSN’s coverage of Major League Soccer continues this Friday, October 10, when Western Conference leaders Seattle Sounders host the Vancouver Whitecaps at 10 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

The Seattle Sounders are led by U.S. Men’s National Team captain Clint Dempsey and will be looking to secure the Supporters’ Shield by winning their final three regular season games. The Vancouver Whitecaps will be looking for a win on Friday to keep them fifth in the Western Conference, the final spot for the 2014 MLS Cup Playoffs.

NBC Sports Group’s lead MLS play-by-play announcer John Strong calls the match joined by former MLS and USMNT player Kyle Martino and host Russ Thaler.

Strong on Seattle Sounders vs Vancouver Whitecaps: “One of the longest-running rivalries in North American soccer helps kick off the final sprint to the finish for the MLS season. Seattle and Vancouver have been facing off since each was founded in the NASL in 1974, and each has a different type of pressure - equally as big - for Friday’s game. Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins are pushing the Sounders neck-and-neck all the way with the LA Galaxy for the MLS Supporters’ Shield, and the home field advantage in MLS Cup that would come along with it. Former Sounder Mauro Rosales is helping as the Whitecaps try to out-duel their other Cascadian rivals, the Portland Timbers, for the final playoff spot in the West. With another massive crowd expected in Seattle, this will be a tremendous 90 minutes to watch.”

NBCSN’s coverage of MLS on Friday will be streamed on NBC Sports Live Extra, NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices and tablets via “TV Everywhere,” the media industry’s effort to make quality content available to MVPD customers both in and out of the home and on multiple platforms.
