SUNDAY NIGHT BASEBALL: DODGERS-YANKEES (7 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock)
Four-time MVP Shohei Ohtani and the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers visit 2026 All-Star Game MVP Cody Bellinger and the New York Yankees in a marquee matchup under the lights at Yankee Stadium this Sunday at 7 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. Play-by-play voice Jason Benetti will call Dodgers-Yankees on Sunday Night Baseball alongside seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens and 1988 World Series MVP and NL Cy Young Award winner Orel Hershiser.
Bob Costas will host the pregame show alongside CC Sabathia, who will also provide “Inside the Pitch” commentary. During crucial at-bats in the game, Sabathia will provide insight into the pitcher’s throw-by-throw approach against a hitter.
Dodgers-Yankees will air on NBC this Sunday for the first time since Game 6 of the 1978 World Series on Oct. 17, 1978. Joe Garagiola, Tony Kubek, and Tom Seaver called New York’s 7-2 win at Dodger Stadium, as the Yankees claimed their second consecutive and 22nd overall World Series championship. The game featured seven Baseball Hall of Famers, including Goose Gossage, Catfish Hunter, Reggie Jackson, Don Sutton, Yogi Berra as a Yankees coach, Yankees manager Bob Lemon, and Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda.
The first-place Dodgers hold MLB’s best record at 61-36, while the Yankees are second in the American League and AL East at 54-42. Los Angeles leads the majors in quality starts (53) while ranking second with a .262 batting average and 854 hits, and third with 476 RBI and a 3.55 ERA. New York has excelled both on the mound and at the plate, pacing the AL with a 3.37 ERA, 142 home runs, and 96 stolen bases. Ohtani leads the Dodgers and ranks among the top five in the National League with 22 home runs, a .403 on-base percentage, and a .953 OPS. Yankees’ first baseman Ben Rice, who earned his first All-Star nod this season, paces the Yankees and is second in the AL with 29 home runs, a .971 OPS, a .599 slugging percentage, and 68 RBI.
Clemens, an 11-time All-Star, enjoyed a prolific 24-year MLB career with the Red Sox (1984-1996), Blue Jays (1997-98), Yankees (1999-2003, 2007), and Astros (2004-06). He won an MLB-record seven Cy Young Awards and finished his career with 4,672 strikeouts (3rd all-time), 354 wins (9th all-time), and a 3.12 ERA across 707 starts (7th all-time). Clemens was named AL MVP in 1986 after going 24-4 with 238 strikeouts, a 2.48 ERA, and 10 complete games in 33 starts for Boston. He also captured the pitching Triple Crown in back-to-back seasons with Toronto in 1997 (21 wins, 2.05 ERA, 292 strikeouts) and 1998 (20 wins, 2.65 ERA, 271 strikeouts) and won two World Series titles with the Yankees in 1999 and 2000. Clemens served as a game analyst on ESPN’s MLB coverage of 2023 Opening Day and appeared on ESPN’s KayRod Cast. Clemens made his NBC Sports’ debut in the booth on Yankees-Red Sox on Sunday Night Baseball on June 28.
Hershiser’s 18-year MLB career was headlined by his 1988 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He posted an NL-high 23 victories, pitched a record 59 consecutive scoreless innings, and won the NL Cy Young Award, NLCS MVP, and World Series MVP as the Dodgers won their first championship in seven years. Hershiser pitched 13 seasons for the Dodgers and three seasons for Cleveland, where he won ALCS MVP honors in leading the team to the 1995 World Series. Hershiser has worked as the primary analyst for SportsNet LA’s broadcasts of Dodgers games since 2017. This Sunday marks Hershiser’s third NBC Sports’ primetime broadcast this season (Diamondbacks-Dodgers in primetime on Opening Day, and Padres-Dodgers on Sunday Night Baseball on July 5).
A 2025 inductee into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, 2009 World Series champion (with New York Yankees), and 2007 AL Cy Young Award winner (with Cleveland), Sabathia won 251 games over his 19-year MLB career (2001-2019). A six-time All-Star, he is one of 20 pitchers in MLB history to record more than 3,000 strikeouts (3,093). Sabathia spent eight seasons with Cleveland before an 11-year tenure with the Yankees. In helping New York to the 2009 championship, he went 3-1 with a 1.98 earned run average in five Postseason starts and was named ALCS MVP. The left-hander led the MLB in wins in back-to-back seasons with 19 victories in 2009 and 21 in 2010. Sabathia, who helped launch MLB Network’s ongoing “Clubhouse Edition” special game telecast series in 2021, serves as a Special Assistant to the Commissioner. Sabathia will make his third Sunday Night Baseball appearance of the season, following Guardians-Braves on April 12 and Padres-Dodgers on July 5.
This Sunday’s game marks NBC Sports’ second consecutive Sunday Night Baseball broadcast with three Cy Young winners on the call. The prior instance – featuring Hershiser, Sabathia and Jake Peavy on Padres-Dodgers on July 5 – is believed to be the first time three Cy Young winners served as analysts on an MLB game telecast.
MLB SUNDAY LEADOFF: WHITE SOX-BLUE JAYS (Noon ET on Peacock and NBCSN)
Six-time All-Star first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays host 2026 All-Star third baseman Miguel Vargas and the first-place Chicago White Sox at Rogers Centre this Sunday at Noon ET on Peacock and NBCSN. Toronto’s pitching staff is third in the league with 849 strikeouts and 29 saves.
A three-time American League All-Star, Plesac made his MLB debut with the Brewers in 1986 and pitched seven seasons with the organization before stops with the Cubs, Pirates, Blue Jays, Diamondbacks, and Phillies. The southpaw appeared in 1,064 games — seventh-most in MLB history — and recorded a 3.64 ERA, 158 saves, and 1,041 strikeouts over his 18-year career. During three consecutive All-Star seasons from 1987-89, Plesac posted a 2.47 ERA with 86 saves and 193 strikeouts across 159 appearances and 193 innings pitched. The former catcher posted 281 hits, 58 doubles, and 133 runs scored across 425 career games. In 2014, Joseph led the AL with a 40.1 caught stealing percentage, and in 2018 turned the most double plays by a catcher (11) in the league. Joseph has served as an analyst for Blue Jays telecasts on Sportsnet since 2022.

NBC SPORTS’ MLB TRADITION
NBC Sports has a distinguished history with Major League Baseball. The first-ever MLB television broadcast was a 1939 Cincinnati Reds-Brooklyn Dodgers doubleheader on W2XBS (the precursor to WNBC-TV) in New York. NBC Sports was a home to the first World Series broadcast in 1947, the first All-Star Game nationally broadcast in 1952, and has televised 39 World Series – more than any other network.
From 1957-2000, NBC Sports was home to a wealth of baseball programming, including Game of the Week and Monday Night Baseball telecasts, more than 30 All-Star Games, and countless iconic Postseason moments. For the 2022-23 seasons, Peacock was the exclusive home of MLB Sunday Leadoff, a first-of-its-kind Sunday morning presentation featuring a unique three-announcer broadcast booth with one analyst with expertise on each team joining the play-by-play voice.
