Barcelona wasn’t at its best during the preseason, however, the Blaugrana built off of their Spanish Super Cup win over Sevilla with a dominating win on Saturday to open La Liga play.

Luis Suarez’s hat-trick set the pace for Barcelona in their 6-2 win over Real Betis, while Lionel Messi and Arda Turan each added goals to cap off the opening day result.

Turan blasted the Blaugrana into the lead after just six minutes, before Messi and Suarez both tallied before the halftime whistle. In typical Messi fashion, the Argentine attacker gave Barca the lead in the 37th minute after cutting in on his preferred left foot and unleashing a powerful strike.

Already up 3-1 at the break, Barcelona kicked it into another gear for the second stanza as Suarez completed his hat-trick in the 82nd minute.

The Blaugrana will be back in action next Sunday when Barcelona takes on Athletic Bilbao at the San Mamés Stadium.
