Just as quickly as Gabriel Paulista found his suspension for kicking out at Diego Costa rescinded, Costa has found himself the recipient of a three-game ban for being the worst.

Jokes aside, Costa will miss three games for his multiple hands to the face of Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny on Saturday. The hitting, combined with his predatory stalking of Gabriel, had many asking which parts of his unsportsmanlike behavior fall within the rules.

Having confirmed the match officials did not see the incident between Costa and Koscielny, the FA supplied video footage to a panel of three former elite referees.
Each had to independently rule Costa’s actions to be an instant red card for the FA to proceed with the charge.
Deserved, for sure. This, however, ensures that Chelsea will ring up 7-8 goals on Newcastle this weekend.
