Multiple reports across England have indicated that Swansea and Wales captain Ashley Williams will be on his way to Goodison Park for a fee of $13 million, to be completed over the next two days.

According to WalesOnline and others, the deal will be signed and sealed shortly, leaving Swansea with less than two weeks to go before the start of the season to try and replace their influential leader.

Williams has often been the subject of transfer rumors in recent seasons, but at 32 years old, the club thought it best to pull the trigger now on a significant sum of money, which was likely aided by Wales’ run to the semifinals of Euro 2016.

If the deal does indeed go through, Williams would depart Swansea having played 352 matches for the Swans, scoring 14 goals and assisting six. He also has a spotless disciplinary record, never having been sent off while there. Williams came up through the West Brom youth academy, but left before signing a professional contract. He moved to Swansea in 2008 from a semi-professional club Stockport County.

Helping to cushion the blow of losing Williams is the news that Gylfi Sigurdsson, fresh off Iceland’s shocking run through the Euros, is set to sign a new contract extension, warding off interest from Everton and Leicester City.
