“Signing a new contract means the world to me. It’s a huge honor,” said Wondolowski. “I love this club and I want to be a part of it. I’m excited for the future and where we’re headed.”

Wondolowski is nearing the MLS goalscoring record, currently sitting 28 goals behind former U.S. Men’s National team attacker Landon Donovan. The Earthquakes forward is currently fourth all-time on the MLS goalscoring list.

The 33-year-old has gotten off to a lightning fast start this season for the Earthquakes, netting seven goals and adding two assists in 11 matches.

U.S. manager Jurgen Klinsmann recently named Wondolowski to the team’s initial 40-man roster ahead of next month’s Copa America Centenario. The final 23-man squad will be revealed on Saturday afternoon during halftime of New York City FC vs. the New York Red Bulls, which will be televised nationally on Fox at 3 p.m. ET.
