Watch Live: Sporting Kansas City vs. Houston Dynamo (Lineups)

Houston Dynamo v Sporting Kansas City - Eastern Conference Championship - Leg 2

during Leg 2 of the Eastern Conference Championship at Sporting Park on November 23, 2013 in Kansas City, Kansas.

Jamie Squire

Sporting Kansas City, after being blanked 3-0 by D.C United, will look to get back to their victorious ways at Sporting Park tonight, battling the Houston Dynamo, who suffered their seventh consecutive defeat to the Columbus Crew, the same 3-0 scoreline dooming Dominic Kinnear’s squad.

The last time these two teams faced each other in June at BBVA Compass Stadium, Kansas City managed the 2-0 win on Soony Saad and Dominic Dwyer’s goals. These sides have also met in the MLS Cup Playoffs the last three years, and Sporting won the Eastern Conference Championship competition in 2013, 2-1 on aggregate.

Kickoff will be around 8:00 p.m. ET, and while you can watch the contest on NBCSN, you can also catch it live at NBC Sports Extra if you don’t have television availability.

Both Houston and KC have endured some difficult form recently.

Sporting was manhandled in a matter of minutes against United last weekend, and granted, the boys from DC have shown that they can play with the big dogs. Based on the way they’ve played this season, they can certainly be considered one of the best teams in MLS, so that defeat wasn’t terrible for Peter Vermes and Co. They only find themselves on a short losing streak, dropping two in their last three games--nothing catastrophic.

Houston meanwhile has the same losing issue, but worse, tallying their seventh consecutive defeat (a club-record) as stated earlier. DaMarcus Beasley wasn’t able to play last week due to hamstring tightness, and Corey Ashe got the start. But it’s not necessarily their defense that’s the culprit for their misfortunes, with their attack stalling often.

Bottom line: Sporting KC should be able to edge the Dynamo by a goal, but it could be back-and-forth, as Houston is definitely desperate for a win.
