The New York Knicks have waived Wayne Selden to make room for Denzel Valentine, who they acquired via trade Monday morning.
Selden was a non-factor in fantasy hoops up to this point in the season. With the chaos that is ensuing around the NBA, Selden could get picked up, but even if he does, his fantasy prospects are non-existent.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #11
Wayne Selden (health and safety protocols) will not be available for Tuesday’s game against the Timberwolves.
Selden’s absence will not affect fantasy hoops as he has only appeared in two games this season.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #11
Wayne Selden played nine minutes in Saturday’s 114-107 loss to the Celtics, failing to record any statistics outside of a personal foul.
With the Knicks being without multiple players due to health and safety protocols, Selden saw his first action since October 22. And had Kemba Walker not picked up two fouls in the first 3:55 of the game, it’s possible that Selden would not have played at all. It was good for him to get some run, but he offers nothing as far as fantasy value is concerned.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #11
The Knicks have signed Wayne Selden Jr. to a non-guaranteed training camp contract.
Seldon suited up for the Knicks’ summer league squad in Las Vegas last month. He last played in the NBA in 2019 and spent last season in Israel. It’s unlikely he’ll make the Knicks’ opening night roster and he can be ignored in all fantasy formats.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #11
Wayne Selden to sign a deal with Shangdong in China.
It’s a one-year deal worth $3.5M, an offer he wasn’t going to see in the NBA. Selden has played for three different NBA teams with career averages of 7.3 points, 1.5 dimes and 0.8 triples. He’s only 24 and should dominate overseas.
  • NBA Shooting Guard #11
Wayne Selden (left knee) will start Saturday’s game vs. Philadelphia alongside Walt Lemon Jr., Shaq Harrison, Rawle Alkins and Robin Lopez.
Selden, who was listed as probable earlier in the day, will not only be available to play but he’ll also start. His presence limits the upside of reserves JaKarr Sampson and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, who saw their minutes increase Wednesday due to Selden playing just 16 minutes.
  • NBA Shooting Guard #11
Wayne Selden (left knee) is probable Saturday against the 76ers.
He played just 16 minutes on Wednesday, which allowed JaKarr Sampson, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and Rawle Alkins to play more. Selden has some history with knee issues, so he’ll be a risky fantasy asset.
  • SAC Guard #8
Zach LaVine (thigh) and Otto Porter (rotator cuff) will remain on the sidelines for Wednesday’s game against the Wizards.
The Bulls are tanking and only have three more games remaining on their regular-season schedule after Wednesday, so we’ve almost assuredly seen the last of these two this year. Shaquille Harrison, Wayne Selden and Antonio Blakeney will pick up the slack in their absence.
  • NBA Shooting Guard #7
Timothe Luwawu will replace Brandon Sampson in the starting unit for Monday’s matchup with the Knicks.
Joining TLC in the starting five will be Walter Lemon Jr., Shaquille Harrison, Wayne Selden and Robin Lopez in Chicago’s 18th, and perhaps grossest, starting lineup of the year. Luwawu is coming off an 18-point game, and he should see plenty of run with the Bulls devoid of other options, so he could be worth a dart throw in DFS.
  • SAC Guard #8
Zach LaVine (thigh), Kris Dunn (back) and Otto Porter (shoulder) are all out again for Monday’s game against the Knicks.
Each player has missed multiple games now due to their various ailments. Shaq Harrison, Ryan Arcidiacono, Antonio Blakeney, Walt Lemon and Wayne Selden will continue to benefit from their absences.
