Francis was claimed off waivers from the Dolphins last week, but the Patriots decided not to carry him as a fourth defensive tackle. In a corresponding move, OG Josh Kline has been promoted from practice squad to the active roster.

An undrafted free agent out of Maryland, Francis made some noise in the preseason, but couldn’t crack Miami’s loaded defensive line. He’ll be a depth piece and special teamer in New England.

Francis was on the Patriots’ practice squad. An undrafted rookie out of Maryland, Francis has yet to appear in an NFL game. He’ll likely be inactive for Sunday’s tilt with the Jets.

Dolphins re-signed S Jordan Kovacs and DT A.J. Francis.

Kovacs recorded five tackles in 33 snaps last season. Francis spent 2014 on injured reserve with a knee injury. Both will try to latch on at the bottom of the Dolphins’ final roster.
