Trevor Bauer O/U 8.5 Strikeouts vs. Brewers

Trevor Bauer has started the 2021 campaign on fire and he should continue that here. Bauer is facing a Brewers squad that he met three times as a pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds last season. The Brewers present a favorable opponent to keep his strong start going.

Versus the Brewers in 2020, Bauer recorded eight, 12 and 12 strikeouts in 6.0, 6.1 and 8.0 innings pitched. That is a total of 32 Ks in 20.1 innings.

NBC’s model projects Bauer to lead the league in strikeouts at 9.5 in 7.1 innings, the most of any player on the slate in either category. At -140 odds, this is still worth betting as he faced the Brewers three times last season.

Bauer has gone at least six innings in all five starts this season, including nine or more strikeouts in four of five games (80%).

He has allowed three or fewer hits in four of five games and has 45 strikeouts to 15 hits. When hitters do make contact with Bauer, he has surrendered homers, six to be exact, compared to six walks and 10 runs permitted overall.

Bauer has a habit of letting his opponents go yard or make a difference when they do make contact, it just does not happen that often. He has 15 hits, six of them homers and a 2.53 ERA on 506 pitches, 32.0 innings and 119 total hitters faced.

Against Bauer, this Brewers’ roster has met him at the plate 102 times, striking out 36 times compared to 21 hits, 11 walks, six RBIs, three HRs and a disappointing .170 batting average. [[ad:athena]]

The Brewers have the third-most strikeouts on the season (251) and the sixth-worst batting average (.217). Milwaukee strikes out the most in the league versus right-handed pitchers (RHP) at 204 times in 668 appearances (30.5%).

Milwaukee ranks 27th or the fourth-worst in batting average versus RHP (.210) and 23rd or worst in OBP, OPS and SLG. They are indeed one of the worst strikeout squads and 10 of the 12 Brewers that qualified had a first swing percentage of 50% or more.

Bauer will have a favorable chance to get ahead in pitch counts and go Over this total for the fifth time in six games. Back Bauer to grab nine Ks and anything above that is a small unit play as it comes with a lot risk in taking a pitcher to hit double-digit Ks.

Pick: Trevor Bauer Over 8.5 Strikeouts (1u)
