We’ve got another full slate of games on the NBA card tonight, but I only see a couple with pre-game value. For the rest of the season, I will likely just be wagering on one, maybe two NBA games a night. This time of the season, it’s hard to determine what a team’s motivations are. I’m turning my attention to tonight’s clash in Charlotte, where we have a pair of teams with something to play for.
Utah Jazz vs. Charlotte Hornets (+4) Total: 228.5
The Jazz enters Friday night’s contest losing back-to-back games. Utah currently has a 2.5 game lead over the Nuggets and a 3.5 game lead over the Timberwolves in the Northwest Division. It will be interesting to see if they can hang on to that lead the rest of the way. This will be the Jazz’s fourth straight road game, with stops in Dallas and in Los Angeles before heading back to Vivent Arena.
It’s worth pointing out that road games have not been good to the Jazz this season. Utah is 19-17 straight up and 15-20-1 ATS away from their homecourt. There are only five teams with worse road ATS records than the Jazz this year. Since flipping the calendar to 2022, the Jazz is 6-14-1 ATS on the road. Honestly, I am shocked that they are the favorites this evening.

The Hornets enter this game as winners of five of their last six games. Charlotte is currently the ninth seed in the East. To me, they are a lock to make it to the Play-In Tournament. The only thing left to be decided is if it’ll be as the eighth, ninth or 10th seed. The Hornets picked a good time to go on a streak.
When these two teams met earlier this season, the Jazz walked away with a 10-point victory over the Hornets. I see the Hornets returning the favor tonight at the Spectrum Center. Charlotte has won three of its last four home games. This season as home underdogs, the Hornets are 10-8-1 ATS. At the very least, they will cover this evening. If you have a little extra to play with, I would also sprinkle it on the Money Line.
Edge: Hornets +4
