Now that we have hit the second half of the NBA season it’s time for my updated ATS Power Rankings. These rankings will look at how teams have performed against the spread on the season and how they have played ATS recently.
For those of you looking for NBA action while the league is on break, our partners at PointsBet have released updated regular season win totals, to-make-the-playoffs odds, as well as odds to win the division.
- Memphis Grizzlies 40-20 (66%) ATS- The Grizzlies debut in the top spot in my initial post-break ATS Power Rankings. Over the course of the past month Memphis has covered the spread in 73% of their games. The Grizzlies have not lost back-to-back games against the spread since before Christmas. Memphis opens up the second half of the season with road games at Minnesota and Chicago.
- Toronto Raptors 34-23 (60%) ATS- You will be hard-pressed to find a team playing better basketball at the break than the Toronto Raptors. Nick Nurse’s bunch is on a 12-5 ATS streak as we head into the second half of the season. During their ATS streak the Raptors have successfully covered spreads from -2 to -10.5. You can trust them in most situations. When the season resumes the Raptors go on a three-game road trip that will take them to Charlotte, Atlanta and Brooklyn.
- Chicago Bulls 35-23-1 (60%) ATS- The Chicago Bulls will enter the second half of the season tied for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. The Bulls finished the first half of the season 21-10 ATS at home. They open up the second half of the season with a pair of home games vs. Atlanta and Memphis. Chicago is 11-6-1 ATS since mid-January.
- Phoenix Suns 32-26 (55%) ATS- Over the All-Star break we learned that Suns guard Chris Paul will miss six-to-eight weeks. We probably will not see Paul until the playoffs begin. The Suns, who are 10-7 ATS in their last 17, open the second half of the season with games against the Thunder, Pelicans and Jazz. This season, the Suns are 4-2 ATS and 6-0 on the Money Line combined vs. those teams.

- Dallas Mavericks 32-27 (54%) ATS- The Dallas Mavericks’ commitment to team defense has done wonders for their backers this season. The Mavericks have been the ninth most profitable team to bet on this season. Over the past month they have covered the spread in 56% of their games. The Mavericks open up the second half of the season with road games vs. the Jazz and Warriors. The Mavericks are 8-7 ATS as road dogs this season.
- Los Angeles Clippers 30-31 (49%) ATS- The Clippers have been an up-and-down ATS team this season. They are one game under .500 against the spread on the season, but over the past month they are 11-6 (64%) ATS. Their post All-Star game schedule starts with road games vs. the Lakers and Rockets.
- Boston Celtics 29-30-1 (49%) ATS- The Celtics grab the seventh spot in my initial post-break ATS Power Rankings. They have not been great ATS-wise on the season, but as of late they have really picked it up. Over the last month the Celtics are 9-7 against the spread. They come out of the break on a three-game road trip that takes them to Brooklyn, Detroit and Indiana. Boston is 16-13 ATS on the road this season.
- Oklahoma City Thunder 35-20-3 (63%) ATS- The Thunder have the third-best ATS record in the league this season. Over the past month they are 8-5-3 ATS, but I find it difficult to bet on the Thunder. They have been great ATS but only have 18 Money Line wins. Oklahoma City has been very profitable but beware of them going into full tank mode.
- Cleveland Cavaliers 36-22 (66%) ATS- The Cavs, like the Grizzlies, have been ATS darlings this season. Cleveland has 36 ATS wins. They are 20-11 ATS as Underdogs. They are 16-11 ATS as favorites. They are not higher on this list because they have not been as good against the spread over the past month. Since mid-January the Cavaliers are 6-8 ATS. They start the second half on the road vs. Detroit and home vs. Washington.
- Miami Heat 33-25-1 (56%) ATS- Miami has the sixth-best ATS record on the season. They have not played as well ATS as of late, with a 8-7-1 record over the past month. Miami has been particularly strong against the spread on the road this season. They are 19-13-1 (60%) ATS away from Miami. The second half of their season starts with games vs. the Knicks and Spurs.
