Belldozer’d: OU QB Allen looking to transfer

Even as Landry Jones is off to the NFL, there’s no room at the Oklahoma starting quarterback inn as the heir apparent at the position is Blake Bell.

Given that situation, one quarterback has reportedly decided to ply his football wares elsewhere.

First reported by and subsequently confirmed by the Daily Oklahoman, Drew Allen has been given permission by the football program to pursue transfer opportunities. Allen had previously hinted at the possibility late last year.

There’s no word yet on what schools the San Antonio, Tex., native may be exploring.

As Allen will graduate in May, he would be permitted to play immediately at an FBS school if that school offers a grad program not offered at OU. He would have one year of eligibility remaining.

A three-star member of OU’s 2009 recruiting class, Allen was rated by as the No. 15 pro-style quarterback in the country. He has attempted just 30 passes in his time in Norman, with none of those coming during the 2012 season as Bell assumed an even bigger role in the offense than he did late during his freshman season.
