BYU’s Unga still straddling NFL fence

Harvey Unga is already BYU’s all-time leading rusher, and is just a couple classes and an internship away from getting his degree.

It would seem as if it would almost be a no-brainer, then, for the running back to give up his final year of collegiate eligibility and make himself available for the 2010 NFL draft.

What would seem like a no-brainer of a decision to most, however, is not where Unga is at right now. In fact, his words say that he’s very much on the fence as to whether or not he will return to the Cougars for another season.

“Honestly, I haven’t even looked into that yet,” Unga said according to the Salt Lake Tribune. “I don’t know -- a lot of prayer, I guess. And then a lot of thought about what I think will be best for me. ...

“I have always been focused on coming back, and have another fun year with these guys, and then taking it from there. No one important has actually told me anything yet.”

Some of those “important” people Unga refers to would likely be the NFL’s advisory committee, a group that gives any interested and eligible underclassmen a projection as to where they may fall in the draft.

According to Unga, though, he hasn’t “even gotten to any of that stuff yet.”
