Maryland’s February loss will be Temple 2013 gain, head coach Matt Rhule has confirmed.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, offensive lineman Pete White has indeed decided to transfer to the Owls. As White has already graduated from Maryland, he will be eligible to play for Temple immediately in 2013.
This season will mark the lineman’s final season of collegiate eligibility.
“He’s a big, strong, athletic kid,” the coach said. “We always believe the battles are won in the trenches.”
White, who left the Terps for what was described as personal reasons, started six of the 12 games in which he played in 2011. Injuries slowed him for most of the 2012 season, and all told for his career he played in 20 games with seven starts.
A four-star member of the Terps’ 2009 recruiting class, White was rated as the No. 13 guard in the country and the No. 1 player in the District of Columbia by Rivals.com.
