A 1-3 start just got worse for Fresno State, as head coach Tim DeRuyter announced Sunday night quarterback Ford Childress is likely to miss the rest of the season due to an injury suffered in the Bulldogs’ 49-23 loss to San Jose State Saturday.

Fresno State head coach Tim DeRuyter announced late Sunday afternoon that junior quarterback Ford Childress will likely miss the remainder of the season due to an internal injury that required surgery Sunday morning.
Childress started and played the entire game for the Bulldogs on Saturday night in a loss at San Jose State. He was 19-of-32 passing in the game for 159 yards with two touchdown passes and one interception. Childress traveled back with the team following the game and was taken to a Fresno hospital upon the teams (sic) return.
Childress, a junior, split time with sophomore Zack Greenlee and freshman Chason Virgil, and earned the start Saturday as Greenlee served a vague suspension.
A Houston native, Childress originally signed with West Virginia out of high school and transferred west after the 2013 season. He is the son of former Texas A&M defensive lineman and College Football Hall of Famer Rob Childress.
