Texas A&M may have a bit of a complicated quarterback situation in 2014 in the first year following the Johnny Manziel era, but Aggies head coach Kevin Sumlin received some great news Wednesday afternoon that should solve things moving forward. Four-star dual-threat quarterback Kyler Murray, of Allen, Texas has committed to the Texas A&M program, giving Sumlin one of the top quarterback recruits to begin building around for years to come.

Rivals.com ranks Murray as the nation’s second-best dual-threat quarterback, behind only Texas Tech commit Jarrett Stidham. Murray held plenty of offers and chose the Aggies over Oregon, Clemson, Notre Dame, Ohio State among others.
Sumlin has been fortunate to have some really good quarterbacks lead his offense, with Case Keenum at Houston and Manziel at A&M. Could Murray end up being Sumlin’s next great quarterback? Time will tell. The Aggies are hoping to keep the offense ticking this fall. Kenny Hill recently had his suspension lifted after a legal issue, and he could end up being the starting quarterback for Texas A&M in 2014. If he has a successful season, he could keep the job for a couple more years as well, which would put Murray on the sideline until the time is right.
