A member of the Pittsburgh football program has found himself with some serious legal issues stemming from an incident early Sunday morning.
According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, running back Jason Douglas has been hit with multiple charges after allegedly running over a pedestrian and fleeing the scene of the accident just before 2 a.m. ET yesterday. The 19-year-old freshman was charged with causing an accident resulting in serious injury, aggravated assault, DUI and underage drinking.
The victim remains hospitalized with head injuries, although his condition has not been made available.
After being caught up to by police, Douglas reportedly stumbled out of his vehicle and played the ever-popular “Hey, I play for Pitt football. Please don’t arrest me” card. Douglas subsequently blew a .178 on his BAC.
Douglas, who has three carries for eight yards this season, has been suspended indefinitely by head coach Dave Wannstedt.
