Report: Oklahoma’s Jordan Thomas won’t be charged, won’t be suspended for opener vs. Houston

It appears there goos news on the personnel front for Oklahoma.

Late this past week, Rivals.com reported that Jordan Thomas will not be formally charged in connection to a late-June incident. Thomas had been arrested on complaints of assault and battery, public intoxication and interference.

According to the arrest report released by the Norman Police Department, the police were called to a Norman bar after a fight and when the arresting officer arrived on the scene Thomas was running away. After a foot chase, Thomas was eventually caught and arrested. The arresting officer wrote Thomas had “slurred speech”, had the odor of alcohol coming from his person and admitted to having “6 shots”.

Not only will Thomas not be formally charged, but, the recruiting website reports, Thomas will not be suspended for the opener against Houston. Just last weekend, head coach Bob Stoops stated that Thomas’ status for the opener was still to be determined.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Stoops confirmed Friday that, if the charges are indeed dismissed, “the junior will be subject to ‘continued’ internal discipline” but would not face game suspensions. Stoops has yet to see the paperwork that no charges will be filed, the paper added.

Thomas started 11 games during the Sooners’ run to the College Football Playoff last year, intercepting five passes and earning second-team All-Big 12 honors. He’s the lone returning starting corner for OU this season.
