Angels placed OF Mike Trout on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.

Trout told reporters on Thursday that he felt the injury while running to first base in his final at-bat on Wednesday and thought it was a cramp initially. He also admitted to having a scan done and that his overall concern level is very low. The Angels are simply being cautious here and are hopeful that Trout will be able to return when first eligible. Christian Moore was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake to take his place on the Angels’ active roster.

Kerry Carpenter delivered a go-ahead two-run double in the sixth inning on Friday, leading the Tigers to a 4-3 victory over the White Sox at Comerica Park.

On the season, the 28-year-old slugger is now slashing .234/.313/.497 with 10 homers and 29 RBI in 166 plate appearances.

Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts announced Friday that left-hander Blake Snell (elbow) is close to throwing his first bullpen session.

Snell is in the process of recovering from surgery to remove bone chips from his pitching elbow. He still has plenty of his throwing progression to go through, but if all goes according to plan and he’s able to avoid setbacks, Snell could be ready to rejoin the Dodgers’ rotation shortly after the All-Star break.
