Luis Urías will join the Blue Jays after being acquired from the Diamondbacks in a trade Sunday.

Although Urías’s official transactions page said he’s been assigned to Buffalo, he will be headed to the majors. According to Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith, Urías trigged an upward mobility cause in his contract, which led to the D-backs trading him. Davis Schneider has played well since his recall, so perhaps Yohendrick Pinango will lose his spot to Urías. An Ernie Clement IL stint might also be a possibility.

Willy Adames (back) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Diamondbacks.

There’s no indication that the Giants are on the precipice of making a roster move with Adames sitting for the second straight contest with a lingering back issue. The 30-year-old shortstop has been dealing with back spasms since last weekend. It’ll be Casey Schmitt continuing to fill in during his ongoing absence.

The 28-year-old righty has been out since early June with a hip impingement. He’s posted a bloated 6.37 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 35/8 K/BB ratio across 34 1/3 innings in a swingman role this season.

Luke Raley (forearm) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Angels.

Raley is presumably available off the bench, if needed, as he continues to battle a left forearm strain that has caused him to miss three straight games. It’ll be Weston Wilson drawing into the lineup in right field.

Cubs RHP Vince Velasquez elected free agency.

It’s possible Velasquez winds up back with Chicago on a new minor league pact in the coming days, but he’ll test the free agent waters after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 34-year-old journeyman was jettisoned from the Cubs roster over the weekend after tossing a scoreless frame against the Brewers.

Francisco Alvarez is in the lineup at DH for Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays.

It’s an encouraging sign to see Alvarez in New York’s lineup following a bizarre incident during Monday’s game when he was inadvertently struck by teammate Ronny Mauricio’s bat while he was warming up in the on-deck circle. Mets interim manager Andy Green told reporters that Alvarez checked out fine afterwards. Disaster averted.

It’ll be Tommy Edman getting a turn at the hot corner in his absence.
