Denzer Guzman went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run, and three RBI in a win over the Athletics on Sunday.

Guzman hit a crucial game-tying, three-run home run off of Hogan Harris in the eighth inning to tie the game at seven. It was his third home run of the season, and now gives him 11 RBIs to go along with a .271/.327/.500 slash line. The 22-year-old came into the game with a solid 42 percent hard-hit rate and has posted an elite 74.2 mph bat speed so far this season. He’s been extraordinarily pull-heavy and his 14.5 percent swinging strike rate and 83 percent zone contact rate are both below average, so this may not last.

Jackson Chourio is out of the lineup for the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Pirates.

Chourio takes a seat after going just 3-for-21 during a five-game series against the division-rival Cardinals earlier this week. The 22-year-old franchise cornerstone will get a bit of a mental reset break in the front-end of the twin bill and figures to return for Saturday’s evening showdown at PNC Park. It’ll be rookie Luis Lara taking over in left field with Garrett Mitchell hitting second in the opening contest.

Jacob Gonzalez is not in the lineup for the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Brewers.

Gonzalez is presumably en route to Pittsburgh and could make his Pirates debut as soon as the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader at PNC Park. The 24-year-old is expected to step in as the club’s starting shortstop in place of Konnor Griffin until at least early September after being acquired from the White Sox on Friday night. He’s displayed a noticeable uptick in exit velocity this season, helping drive an offensive breakout at the Triple-A level. He’s a middle infielder worth monitoring in deeper fantasy formats, particularly if he secures everyday at-bats with Pittsburgh.

Luis Robert Jr. (back) went 2-for-3 with a solo homer on Friday in a minor league rehab game for Double-A Binghamton.

Robert is likely to rejoin New York’s outfield mix following next week’s All-Star break after appearing in just 24 games before landing on the injured list in late April with lumbar spin disk herniation. The 28-year-old marquee offseason addition will be returning to a crowded situation, where rookie A.J. Ewing has emerged as a fixture in center field. That development likely pushes Robert into a short-side platoon role and could prompt New York to explore moving on from him before to next month’s trade deadline.

Braves sent C Jair Camargo outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.

It’s merely a procedural move after Camargo went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week. The 27-year-old catcher went 1-for-2 during his lone game for Atlanta back on June 17. He’ll remain with the organization as emergency depth behind Drake Baldwin and Joey Bart.

Baseball America’s Carlos Collazo reports St. John Bosco HS shortstop James Clark has withdrawn from the 2026 MLB Draft.

Clark was widely regarded as a likely top-three-round selection, but the 18-year-old prep shortstop from California has withdrawn just hours before the draft. He’ll instead head to Duke University to begin his collegiate career.

Chris Paddack has signed a contract with the Samsung Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization.

Paddack heads overseas to pursue a more lucrative opportunity after struggling to an inflated 6.79 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 40/19 K/BB ratio over 57 innings between the Rangers, Reds and Marlins earlier this season. The 30-year-old’s days as a fantasy-relevant starter are over unless he manages to completely reinvent himself while pitching in Korea. It’s happened before, but we’re not banking on it with Paddack.

White Sox recalled LHP Tyler Schweitzer from Triple-A Charlotte.

Schweitzer rejoins Chicago’s relief mix for Saturday’s contest against the Athletics after southpaw Brandon Eisert was shipped to the Pirates in the Jacob Gonzalez trade. The 25-year-old rookie has allowed four runs over eight innings across five appearances for the White Sox this season.

Pirates transferred SS Konnor Griffin to the 60-day injured list.

The procedural move opens a spot on Pittsburgh’s roster for shortstop Jacob Gonzalez, who was acquired from the White Sox in a trade on Friday night. Griffin is recovering from a torn sagittal band in his left ring finger that is expected to sideline him until early September. The 20-year-old prodigy is worth stashing in deeper fantasy leagues, but he’s unlikely to make a significant impact given how much time he’s set to miss.

Pirates designated RHP Cam Sanders for assignment.

Sanders loses his spot on Pittsburgh’s roster with lefty reliever Brandon Eisert coming over from the White Sox in a trade. The 29-year-old has struggled to an inflated 8.44 ERA across 16 innings of work for the Pirates over the last two seasons.

Brewers recalled LHP Robert Gasser from Triple-A Nashville.

Gasser has been up-and-down for Milwaukee over the last few weeks, turning in a respectable 4.15 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 40/14 K/BB ratio across 43 1/3 innings over eight starts. The 27-year-old former top pitching prospect provides Milwaukee with some additional depth heading into Saturday’s doubleheader against the Pirates and could wind up joining their rotation in place of an injured Kyle Harrison (forearm) coming out of next week’s All-Star break.
