Blue Jays’ outfielder Jesús Sañchez sustained a right ankle sprain during Friday night’s battle against the Rangers.

Blue Jays’ skipper John Schneider told reporters after the game that X-rays returned negative for any fractures. It’s still unclear what grade ankle sprain Sañchez is dealing with, or how long he may be shelved for, so we’ll have to wait and see how he feels on Saturday.

George Springer (shoulder) was held out of the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for the second consecutive game on Sunday.

Springer was scratched from Saturday’s lineup due to tightness in his left shoulder and they’ll give him an extra day to rest on Sunday as well. The expectation is that he’ll once again be available off the bench if needed and he’s still considered day-to-day. Jesus Sanchez will serve as the team’s designated hitter while Myles Straw starts in left field and will bat ninth against Phillies’ left-hander Jesus Luzardo.

Jesús Sánchez hit a two-run homer and walked Wednesday against the Astros.

The homer was on a 3-0 pitch that was up and out of the strike zone, but it seems he knew what he was doing. Sánchez is batting .270/.313/.438 with eight homers through 246 plate appearances. He’s going to need to stay healthy and put together a nice finish here to avoid being non-tendered this winter.

Jesús Sánchez is not in the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Cardinals.

Sánchez returned from the injured list on Friday and has now sat in two consecutive games with opposing left-handers on the hill. It looks like he’ll be used exclusively in that strong-side platoon role with Myles Straw continuing to take his place against southpaws.

Sánchez wound up missing a month and a few days with an ankle sprain suffered on June 27. He’ll likely return to platoon COF duties in the place of the optioned Yohendrick Piñango.

Sánchez was placed on the IL on June 27 and figures to have at least a week or two of rehab games. He’ll likely be back near the start of August. The 28-year-old outfielder was hitting .274/.316/.437 in 234 plate appearances before suffering the ankle sprain that sent him to 10-day injured list.

Jesús Sánchez (ankle) has started running the bases and could go on a rehab assignment this week.

Sánchez has been out with a right ankle sprain since the end of June. He was hitting .274/.316/.437 with seven homers and 29 RBI through 234 plate appearances over 73 games for the Blue Jays and would be welcomed back in their lineup. However, he could also make for an attractive trade chip considering he has one year of team control left through arbitration and will make over $7 million next season.

Sánchez underwent a precautionary MRI to rule out any structural issues after initial X-rays came back negative for any fractures. There should be some clarity on his status later this weekend, but fantasy managers should anticipate a multi-week absence. The 28-year-old corner outfielder suffered the injury during Friday’s contest against the Rangers. He’s put together a decent Toronto debut, hitting .274/.316/.437 with seven homers and 29 RBI through 234 plate appearances over 73 games.

It doesn’t sound like there’s any physical issue going on with Sañchez, so it looks to be just a routine day off. Myles Straw will start in his place in left field and will bat ninth against Cubs’ right-hander Colin Rea.

Jesús Sañchez went 3-for-4 and hit his seventh homer Tuesday as the Blue Jays topped the Philles 3-2.

Sañchez homered off Zach Wheeler to make it a 1-1 game in the sixth and then singled to open a two-run rally in the ninth. He’s batting .296/.328/.476, giving him the highest OPS among Jays regulars this season. Things might get crowded again in Toronto’s outfield after Addison Barger returns. but there’s little doubt now that Sañchez should keep starting in left or right against righties over the rest of the season.

Sánchez is at DH and hitting cleanup following a brief one-game absence after being hit on the wrist by a ball that was thrown from the stands during Sunday’s game against Baltimore. He appears to have avoided serious injury and isn’t expected to miss any additional time. It’ll be George Springer getting a maintenance day with rookie Yohendrick Piñango picking up another start in right field on Wednesday evening at Truist Park.

The 31-year-old outfielder was released by the White Sox on Friday and finds a new home before the weekend is through. He’ll serve as a lefty masher, working on the short side of a platoon for the Padres. Expect an official announcement late Sunday or early Monday.
