Sam Antonacci is on the bench for Tuesday’s game against the Orioles.

Antonacci takes a seat following 10 consecutive starts in left field since June 19. The 23-year-old rookie has settled in nicely as Chicago’s top-of-the-order table-setter, hitting .291/.391/.413 with 43 runs scored, four homers, 22 RBI and 11 steals in 263 plate appearances through 65 games. He’s definitely lived up to fantasy managers’ most optimistic projections. It’ll be Kyle Teel moving up to the leadoff spot with Junior Perez in left field on Tuesday night.

Orioles designated RHP Albert Suárez for assignment.

We’re all familiar with this cycle by now. The 36-year-old hurler will clear waivers, elect free agency, re-sign on a minor league deal and rejoin the Orioles’ bullpen at some point in the next couple of weeks. Suárez holds a 4.12 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 41/20 K/BB ratio in 59 innings with the Orioles this season.

Guardians optioned RHP Austin Peterson to Triple-A Columbus.

The 26-year-old righty made his MLB debut against the Tigers on Saturday, allowing just one hit and striking out three batters in two strong innings of work. He wasn’t going to be available on Sunday though, so the Guardians opted to swap him out for a fresh arm. He should get another chance with the big league club before September is through.

Red Sox placed OF Ceddanne Rafaela on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to September 3, with a right quadriceps strain.

Rafaela had missed the team’s previous three games with the injury and wasn’t improving as quickly as the Red Sox had hoped, so they’ll sit him down and make sure that the injury heals properly and that he’s ready for the stretch run. Nate Eaton was recalled from Triple-A Worcester to take his place on the active roster.
