    Corey Seager (back) took live batting practice once again on Sunday.

    He’s going to do so one more time on Monday before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. He’s only expected to need a game or two there before he’s ready to rejoin the Rangers. If all goes according to plan, he should be back in the Rangers’ lineup for their weekend series against the Astros in Houston.

    Yoendrys Gómez tossed a scoreless ninth inning and got the save against the Braves on Tuesday.

    Gómez pitched around a Michael Harris II double to record a scoreless ninth inning and pick up the save against the Braves on Tuesday. It was his 19th save of the season. With a 3.25 ERA, Gómez has emerged as the top reliever for the Twins this year after many different relievers recorded saves for Minnesota in the first half of the season.

    Tyler Mahle allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Twins on Tuesday.

    Mahle gave up six hits, walked one and struck out three. He fell to 4-10 with the loss. Mahle pitched well. He allowed only two runs and worked into the seventh inning. It wasn’t his fault the Braves offense only scored one run. Mahle has allowed three runs in 18 2/3 innings (1.48 ERA) over his last three starts. He’s lined up to face the Dodgers at home next week.

    Zebby Matthews allowed one run in 5 2/3 innings and got the win in the Twins’ 4-1 victory over the Braves on Tuesday.

    Matthews gave up five hits, walked one and struck out four. He improved to 7-8 with the win. Matthews has suddenly won his last three starts. He has a 5.12 ERA this year. Matthews is lined up to face the Athletics on the road next week.

    Josh Lowe went 1-for-4 with a solo homer to lead the Angels to a 3-1 win over the Astros on Tuesday.

    Lowe extended the Angels’ lead in the fourth inning with a solo homer off Cristian Javier. The home run was Lowe’s second in four games and tenth of the season while hitting .202/.259/.360 with 21 runs scored, 26 RBI, and four steals across 249 plate appearances.

    Smith prevented the shutout against the Angels with a solo homer off José Fermin in the eighth inning to provide Houston’s only run. The home run keeps Smith hot in the month, hitting .355 with four homers in August.     Joyce was summoned in the ninth inning with a two-run lead to close out the game against the Astros. He pitched a clean inning, striking out two batters to secure the win and record his third save of the season. Joyce now has each of the last three saves for the Angels, seemingly taking over the closer role.

    George Klassen tossed seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts in a win over the Astros on Tuesday.

    Klassen was lights out on Tuesday in Houston, tossing seven shutout innings in his fifth career start. He allowed only one hit and walked three batters while collecting seven strikeouts on an impressive 17 whiffs. The 24-year-old right-hander continues to issue too many free passes, but has now put together back-to-back impressive outings. He’ll take a 3.74 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, and a 21/18 K/BB ratio across 21 2/3 innings into a start against the Rangers in Texas on Sunday.

    Cristian Javier allowed two runs with five strikeouts over four innings in a loss against the Angels on Tuesday.

    Javier tossed two scoreless innings, then gave up a run on two hits and a walk in the third. Josh Lowe then took him deep for a solo homer in the fourth. Javier needed 87 pitches to get through the four frames. Bryan King would take over on the mound in the fifth. Javier struck out five batters and ended the day with a 6.44 ERA, 1.68 WHIP, and a 30/17 K/BB ratio across 36 1/3 innings. He’ll take on the Athletics in Houston on Sunday.
