Aroldis Chapman threw a perfect ninth against the Dodgers to earn his 27th save Saturday.

Chapman has a win and eight saves in nine appearances since the All-Star break. The appearance tonight was his third in four days, so he’ll probably be rested Sunday. Garrett Whitlock could close then, assuming that he’s fine. He hasn’t worked since Wednesday and didn’t pitch in a close game tonight, which was curious.

Tommy Edman is not in the Dodgers’ starting lineup for Friday evening’s divisional showdown against the Giants.

It looks to be nothing more than a routine day of rest for the 31-year-old infielder. Miguel Rojas will start in his place at second base and will bat fifth for the Dodgers against Giants’ left-hander Cesar Perdomo.

Rangers transferred RHP Cole Winn to the 60-day injured list.

Winn has been shelved since the end of August due to a right rotator cuff strain. Once it became clear that he wasn’t going to be able to return this season, the Rangers decided to put his 40-man roster spot to better use. No word yet on whether or not Winn will require surgery over the offseason.

Phillies’ manager Don Mattingly told reporters on Friday that Jonathan Bowlan (groin) is not expected to land on the injured list.

The Phillies are hopeful that he’ll be able to return before the end of the regular season, so they’ll take it day-to-day for the time being. That means the Phillies’ bullpen will be shorthanded for remainder of their weekend series against the Mets in New York.

Cam Smith is not in the Astros’ starting lineup for Friday night’s matchup against the Braves.

It appears to be nothing more than a routine night off for the 23-year-old outfielder. After homering in three straight games last week, Smith is just 1-for-20 (.050) with six strikeouts over his last six contests. Perhaps a day off to clear his head will do some good. LaMonte Wade Jr. will draw a start in his place and will bat eighth against Braves’ right-hander Tyler Mahle.
