Rays transfer Jake Fraley (shoulder) to 60-day IL

The calls for Tibbs to reach the majors are going to get exponentially louder with Andy Pages set to miss 4-5 weeks with a left hand fracture. It figures to be Alek Thomas, who is already on the club’s 40-man roster, that gets the call to join the Dodgers as a defensive specialist with Enrique Hernández and Tommy Edman taking over for Pages in center field. It’s possible the Dodgers decide to give Tibbs a look in left field, especially if they decide they need the spark in their lineup. However, his arrival in the big leagues doesn’t feel imminent. The same goes for top prospect Josue De Paula, who isn’t really an option in center field at this stage of his development at Double-A Tulsa. Fellow top prospect Mike Sirota would make a ton of sense as a short-term stopgap, but that feels unlikely with both Edman and Hernández capable of filling the void for the final month of the season.

Davidson is the ultra-rare prospect that is on the precipice of breaking into the majors despite going undrafted back in 2023. The unheralded 24-year-old power-hitting outfielder has gone deep six times in 31 games since arriving on the doorstep of the big leagues and is up to 25 round-trippers through 73 games in the upper minors. With the Giants shifting into a long-term rebuilding phase, it’s possible Davidson gets an opportunity when rosters expand next month. He’s the type of prospect that fantasy managers need to start familiarizing themselves with for next season and beyond.

Pages had X-rays tonight after all. Roberts didn’t say how the Dodgers intend to replace Pages, but former Diamondbacks center fielder Alek Thomas seems like the obvious choice. He could come up and play against most righties, with Tommy Edman moving to center against lefties. That would free up some infield time for Kiké Hernández and Miguel Rojas.

Hancock struck out six and walked none, but he gave up two homers in the first to account for the runs. While Hancock left with a lead tonight, it didn’t hold up, keeping him 7-7. Still, the Mariners did win in 10 to improve to 12-12 in his starts. He’ll try to get back over .500 next week against the Blue Jays.

Alex Bregman took him deep. This makes eight blown saves for Muñoz, but his closing gig remains safe. He’s allowed runs in only four of his last 23 appearances, and after prevailing in the bottom of the 10th tonight, the Mariners have picked up wins in two of his three blown saves during the span.

After getting three runs to work with in the first, Boyd surrendered four runs in the second, with Cal Raleigh’s three-run homer serving as the big blow. His ERA has jumped from 3.50 to 4.15 while he’s given up 11 runs in his last two starts. Still, his stuff is fine, and he remains a solid choice in mixed leagues. He’s due to face the Diamondbacks next week.

Back from a flexor strain, Palencia averaged 98.9 mph with his six fastballs, leaving him just a tad shy of his 99.4-mph average for the season. It was a nice first outing back, but with Jacob Webb excelling, he’ll probably have to wait a bit for chances to close.

Bregman had a two-run homer in the first and a game-tying solo shot off Andrés Muñoz in the ninth, but it wasn’t quite enough for the Cubs tonight. He now has 18 homers for the season. 11 of those have come in his last 34 games.

Pages said the pitch hit him on the outside of his left hand, just below his pinkie finger. If he needs to miss some time, the Dodgers could call up Alek Thomas to share time with Tommy Edman in center. Top prospect Josue DePaula is strictly a corner outfielder and probably wouldn’t be viewed as a potential option here.

Technically, it was a throwing error that ended the game, allowing Wyatt Langford to score from second on Duran’s infield single off Ben Joyce. Duran ended the night with no RBI or runs scored, but as has often been the case this season, he was the Rangers’ best position player. He’s batting .271/.327/.441 in 460 plate appearances.
