    Athletics selected the contract of INF Michael Stefanic from Triple-A Las Vegas.

    No stranger to the “replace Jacob Wilson” rodeo this year, Stefanic hit .400 in five plate appearances in an earlier appearance with the A’s when Wilson hit the injured list. The 30-year-old has hit .296/.405/.414 for Triple-A Las Vegas with six homers and nine stolen bases in 453 plate appearances.

    Oneil Cruz went 1-for-4 with a triple and two RBI against the Dodgers on Saturday.

    With two runners on in the first inning, Cruz laced a triple on a sharp line drive to right field, plating two runs for the Pirates. It was his first triple of the season and third extra-base hit in four games since returning from the injured list.     Scott was summoned in the top of the ninth to close out the game against the Pirates with a one-run lead. He worked a clean inning, striking out one to secure the win and convert his 19th save of the season to go with a strong 2.24 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and a 64/11 K/BB ratio across 52 1/3 innings.

    Tarik Skubal allowed three runs with 11 strikeouts over seven innings in a win over the Pirates on Saturday.

    The Pirates jumped on Skubal right away, putting three runs on the board on three hits in the first inning. He then worked through more traffic in the second, stranding two runners. Skubal would recover nicely thereafter, tossing five more scoreless innings, completing seven while collecting 11 strikeouts. The 29-year-old left-hander will take a 2.91 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and a 146/21 K/BB ratio across 120 2/3 innings into a start against his former team in Detroit on Friday.

    Jared Jones allowed two runs with five strikeouts over four innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Saturday.

    Jones held the Dodgers scoreless through three innings before things got away from him a bit in the fourth. Los Angeles brought a pair of runs in on three hits and a walk. Jones would get out of the inning with the bases loaded. His day would be done after four frames at 87 pitches. He struck out five. The 25-year-old right-hander will take a 4.76 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and a 77/26 K/BB ratio across 68 innings into a start against the Cardinals in St. Louis on Friday.

    The Pirates will start Lake Bachar ahead of Carmen Mlodzinski in Sunday’s game against the Dodgers.

    Bachar pitched three innings in a start last Sunday and then a scoreless inning in relief on Friday. Mlodzinski has pitched a total of 8 1/3 innings and given up 13 earned runs in three starts since moving back into Pittsburgh’s rotation.
