Athletics’ manager Mark Kotsay told reporters on Friday that J.T. Ginn (elbow) is unlikely to return this season.

The 27-year-old right-hander has made very slow progress in his recovery from a right elbow impingement and with only a couple of weeks left, it sounds like the A’s may just shut him down completely. If he doesn’t get it addressed surgically over the winter, it’s possible that the issue could linger into the 2027 season.

Braves sent RHP Elieser Hernández outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.

The 31-year-old hurler had been designated for assignment earlier in the week. The expectation is that once again he’ll elect free agency and re-sign with the Braves on a minor league contract. Stay tuned.

Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone told reporters on Friday that right-hander Clarke Schmidt (elbow) will make one final minor league rehab start on Saturday.

As long as everything goes smoothly there, he’ll then be activated from the injured list. The expectation remains that Schmidt will work out of the Yankees’ bullpen down the stretch which greatly limits his appeal for fantasy purposes.

Alika Williams is not in the Athletics’ starting lineup for Friday night’s skirmish against the Mariners.

The 27-year-old has settled in as the team’s regular shortstop while Jacob Wilson has been sidelined, but he’ll get a breather in this one. Donovan Walton will slide over to cover short with Jeff McNeil manning second base and Tommy White starting at first base against Mariners’ right-hander George Kirby.

Dodgers transferred LHP Eric Lauer to the 60-day injured list.

This move officially ends Lauer’s 2026 season. The 31-year-old southpaw landed on the injured list last week due to inflammation in his pitching elbow. Josue De Paula was promoted from Double-A Tulsa on Friday to take Lauer’s spot on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster.

Dodgers placed DH/P Shohei Ohtani on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to September 8, with right biceps inflammation.

Even with the backdated stint on the injured list, the earliest that the superstar slugger will be able to return is September 23. Dodgers’ top prospect Josue De Paula was promoted from Double-A Tulsa to take Ohtani’s place on the Dodgers’ active roster on Friday.

Padres recalled INF Mason McCoy from Triple-A El Paso.

With Ty France heading to the paternity list on Friday, McCoy will get his first opportunity at the MLB level this season. The 31-year-old infielder has hit .284/.359/.408 with 10 homers, 67 RBI and 37 stolen bases in 546 plate appearances at Triple-A El Paso this season. He’s unlikely to see enough action to gain relevancy from a fantasy perspective.

Gunnar Henderson (knee) rejoined the Orioles’ starting lineup for Friday’s series opener against the Blue Jays.

The 25-year-old shortstop was held out of Wednesday’s lineup due to left knee discomfort. He appears to be doing much better after Thursday’s off-day though and is back in there at shortstop and batting fifth for the O’s against Blue Jays’ righty Max Scherzer.
