Astros activated RHP Nate Pearson from the 15-day injured list.
Pearson figures to operate in a versatile swingman-type role, typically handling long relief situations, after missing the first seven weeks of the season recovering from elbow surgery. The 29-year-old was one of the top pitching prospects in baseball earlier in his career with the Blue Jays, but never quite panned out as a traditional starter or reliever. He can be safely ignored for fantasy purposes at the moment.

Start your Sunday with the Pirates and Blue Jays on MLB Sunday Leadoff at 12p ET on Peacock. Then, watch as the Rangers and Angels meet for an AL West clash on Sunday Night Baseball at 7 pm ET on Peacock and NBCSN.
  • HOU 3rd Baseman #14
Astros optioned INF/OF Shay Whitcomb to Triple-A Sugar Land.
Whitcomb returns to the minors to make room for center fielder Jake Meyers to come off the injured list. The 27-year-old has gone 2-for-17 with one homer and four RBI in 14 games for the Astros this season.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #43
Astros placed RHP Lance McCullers Jr. on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.
McCullers hits the injured list shortly after being scratched from Tuesday’s start against the Twins with shoulder inflammation. The 32-year-old has already returned to Houston to undergo imaging to determine whether he’s dealing with any structural damage. There should be a clearer idea of his status at some point later this week. It’s a bit unclear how the Astros will fill his rotation spot at the moment.
  • COL Right Fielder #2
Rockies activated OF Tyler Freeman from the paternity list.
Freeman returns for Tuesday’s game against the Rangers after spending a couple days away from the club on paternity leave. The 26-year-old corner outfielder has hit .253/.330/.345 with two homers, 12 RBI and four steals across 101 plate appearances over 27 games this season.
  • COL Left Fielder #30
Rockies optioned OF Sterlin Thompson to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Thompson went 1-for-8 at the dish across three games during his first call-up with the Rockies. The 24-year-old outfielder has put up some big-time numbers in the upper minors and figures to receive a more extended look in Colorado at some point later this season.
  • CLE Relief Pitcher #49
Guardians re-signed LHP Kolby Allard to a minor league contract.
Allard is back with Cleveland as emergency pitching depth after spending a couple days on the open market. The 28-year-old southpaw allowed 10 runs on 16 hits over 8 2/3 innings across four relief outings for the Guardians last month.
  • DET 2nd Baseman #25
Gleyber Torres (oblique) has progressed to on-field baseball activities.
Torres has not been cleared to head out on a minor league rehab assignment, but that figures to happen at some point soon. The 29-year-old second baseman hit the injured list with a left oblique strain back on May 6.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #43
Lance McCullers Jr. was scratched from Tuesday’s start against the Twins with shoulder inflammation.
Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters McCullers has been pitching through the shoulder issue for a few starts but didn’t bounce back as hoped this week following his latest outing. He’ll return to Houston to undergo further evaluation and testing to determine the severity of the issue and his next steps. It certainly sounds like he’s headed to the injured list. It’ll be Jason Alexander taking the ball to open a bullpen game on Tuesday against the Twins.
  • TEX Left Fielder #36
Wyatt Langford (forearm) is aiming to be cleared to resume hitting this week.
Langford will need to pass some forearm testing before he’s given clearance to resume hitting later this week. The 24-year-old fantasy standout has been on the shelf recovering from a right forearm strain since April 22. There should be a definitive return timetable once he starts ramping up baseball activities again.
  • TEX 1st Baseman #14
Justin Foscue is hitting second on Tuesday against the Rockies.
Foscue will get a chance to hit near the top of Texas’ lineup, with Andrew McCutchen leading off and Evan Carter being dropped to ninth in the batting order, against lefty opener Sammy Peralta after homering twice in 10 games since being called back up to the majors on May 5.
